Carolina Ranch Dog Training is the training division of the Carolina Ranch campus on NC-42 West in Garner. Its published philosophy is short: "We provide personalized training solutions for dogs of all ages… All of our training programs are designed using positive motivational techniques, clear communication and respect for both the pet and the guardian."

Where the method comes from

Unusually for this metro, the business names its source. It states that it follows and promotes "the position statements developed by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) which recommends that training should focus on reinforcing desired behaviors with reward based training methods to motivate them rather than focus on using fear or pain to punish undesirable behaviors." It heads the page "Based on Science That Works!"

How training is booked

Training runs through a formal intake: an appointment request for a consultation or lesson, a detailed consultation questionnaire once the appointment is confirmed, and a training release form completed annually for each dog. The range of goals it advertises runs from "a perfect lap dog" to "a champion in the show ring," and its own advice is to start young, "as early as just a few weeks old."
