About K&C Canine Life Skills LLC

K&C Canine Life Skills LLC works from Clayton and serves Apex, Cary, Clayton, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs and Knightdale among others. It is run by Kayla Delp, whose route into the work started as a volunteer dog walker and training assistant at an animal shelter in Pittsburgh – "learning foundation skills at an animal shelter taught me hands on experience how to assist dogs with varying personalities."

Credentials, with dates

The site is specific about both credentials and when they were earned: the CATCH Canine Trainers Academy Master Class program completed in May 2018 for a Certified Dog Trainer certification, and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed certification from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers in September 2021. The stated coursework covers "dog developmental stages, behavior problem solving, canine learning theory, and obedience training." These are the business's own claims.

Why it specializes where it does

The behavior side of the practice has a stated origin. Her own dog, Crystal – named on the site as the business's Canine Inspiration – "introduced me to life with a sensitive dog who struggles with generalized anxiety which presents itself as presentations of aggression, leash reactivity, and noise sensitivity who requires her world to be closely managed. She expanded my original goals to also include specializing in canine behavior needs."

What it treats

The published behavior specialties are "aggression, separation anxiety, reactivity, noise sensitivity, and resource guarding," approached as causes rather than symptoms – "I teach people how to resolve the underlying issues rather than simply addressing the symptoms." Packages are named – Simply One, Puppy Foundations, Adult Canine Skills and Canine Behavior Skills – and all are customized.
