About Cherry Hill training center

Cherry Hill Training Center is located in Bloomfield, New York, and services Rochester and the surrounding areas. It is run by Amanda Farnsworth, who the site says has had a career in dog training for more than fifteen years with a focus on herding dogs and on building confidence in both dogs and their handlers.

Herding is the specialty, not a sideline

Most of the training menu is organized around stock work: herding group and private lessons, instinct tests, and home or farm visits. Group lessons are actively encouraged rather than treated as the cheap option – the site's argument is that you and your dog learn most by watching and listening to other teams work – and lesson plans are written to each team's own goals. Group herding lessons are published at $50 per hour per dog, with private lessons available on request.

The general-obedience side

Private in-home training and behavioral consultations are offered for owners who are not looking to join group classes, covering basic manners, counter surfing, destructive behavior, jumping, excessive barking and chasing cars. Board and train is available in two tracks – one for herding, one for general obedience and behavior.

Competition handling

Handling services are offered to clients who need their dogs trialed or titled in herding, for all breeds, at all levels, on all stock and in all venues across the United States and Canada. Farnsworth has competed in many venues; the site names ASCA, AHBA and AKC as her main focus.

Boarding, and the rest

Boarding and day stays are offered in a home environment rather than a kennel setting, and the site also runs clinics and demonstrations, a concierge day-train service and online courses.

Its own statement of purpose

"Our personal mission is to create unbreakable working relationships with owners and their dogs."
