About Blueprint K9
Blueprint K9 works out of Smith Road in Canandaigua and sells two things: private lessons that come to you, and a residential board-and-train. What is useful about the site is that it publishes the ladder between them, so an owner can see exactly where their problem sits before booking.
The lesson packages
Private lessons are hour-long sessions, ideally weekly, in the home or in a public setting, working leash handling, confidence building and obedience. Three packages are published and each states who it is for. The four-lesson package covers basic obedience commands, household manners and loose-leash walking, and the site calls it the right fit for puppies while saying plainly that it is not recommended for reactive dogs. The six-lesson package adds advanced commands, distraction work, distance commands and remote or e-collar work, and covers minor dog reactivity. The eight-lesson package pairs obedience with behavior modification, adds leash handling and off-leash control, and is described as the best option for dogs with reactivity or aggression.
Board and train
The board-and-train program takes dogs aged six months and up, and is framed as building a foundation of obedience through constant reinforcement while the dog lives with a professional trainer. The stated aim is a dog that performs the behaviors in real-life situations after the program rather than only in a training session.
The problems they name
The home page is written directly at the owner who walks the dog at odd hours to avoid other dogs, who gets pulled around, or who cannot have company over because the dog is reactive toward strangers. The published techniques for that group are described as combating reactivity, aggression and fear. Elsewhere the site lists what it teaches as sit, place, down, reliable recall, boundaries, thresholds and proper play.
What clients describe
The testimonials on the site are consistent about the shape of the work: owners describe learning leash handling and household structure themselves, working both in their own home and out in the community, and several describe follow-on interest in e-collar work for off-leash walking. One board-and-train client notes that the training equipment used on the dog – a long line, a training chain and an e-collar – came home with them.
Who it’s best for
Best for an owner in the Canandaigua area who wants weekly coaching in their own home, with a clearly signposted step up to residential training if the problem is bigger than that.
