About Claws and Effect Inc.

Claws and Effect describes itself as in-home pet care and dog walking for Buffalo's working class, and dog training sits alongside that as one of the things it will help with.

Where training fits

The site's own summary of who it is for names two situations: an owner working long hours who needs to know the pet is in good hands, and an owner looking for help with their dog's aggression or obedience. Elsewhere the site lists nail trims, dog walking, yard clean-up and dog training together as the tedious and challenging tasks it takes off an owner's plate. Training is therefore real but secondary to the care business, so ask what a training program involves.

Who runs it

Alana and Katherine founded the company in 2018 after eighteen years of friendship. One of them writes that pet sitting and dog walking were the highlight of her college years and that she has since studied training techniques, animal behavior and business management.

The care side

In-home pet sitting is the core service, offered for anything from a few minutes to a few days, with nail trims, yard clean-up, off-site baths and pet taxi services available. Dog walking is done in the dog's own neighborhood by a professional pet sitter. Every new pet sitting client gets a complimentary meet and greet.

On the town

The site gives Buffalo NY in its title and describes a service area spanning most of Erie County.
