The trainer, in his own words

The about page is a first-person account of a change of method. "Hi, I’m Nate. I’m the owner and trainer behind Connected Dog Training" He says he was taught "a very traditional style of dog training" in which "tools like e-collars were a normal part of the process", and that working with dogs struggling with fear, reactivity and aggression led him to question it: "I didn’t just want to know how to stop a behavior. I wanted to know why the behavior was happening in the first place." He describes his approach today as "positive reinforcement, connection-based, and trauma-informed", while making clear it is not permissive – "We teach skills, set boundaries, manage the environment, and work toward meaningful change. But we do it without relying on fear, pain, or intimidation."
