About Country Kennel

What they offer

Country Kennel has served Bangor-area families since 2000 from its Stillwater Avenue location, with boarding, daycare and training under one roof. Its head trainer has been helping dogs and their owners since 1990, and the kennel keeps a small team and 29 kennels so staff get to know each dog.

Training programs

Programs include group classes, private lessons and a puppy program, and the kennel offers AKC Canine Good Citizen testing and AKC Community Canine and Urban Canine testing. Puppy and basic obedience classes run continuously, so a new session starts as soon as one ends, and the site suggests joining the waiting list early. A board-and-train program is available once a dog and owner have finished the class levels, because training starts with teaching owners to communicate with their dogs.

Approach

The kennel uses a balanced method that focuses on a mutually respectful relationship between dog and owner, and over the years it has helped dogs prepare for service and therapy roles through its classes and private training.
