About Dakota Gold Kennels

What they offer

Dakota Gold Kennels is a family-run kennel near Tower City that breeds field golden retrievers and trains retrievers for hunting and hunt tests. Its training services page lists three programs.

Training programs

All Breed Obedience Training is a four-to-six-week course that teaches sit, heel, here and down, both on and off lead. The Puppy Headstart Program is a two-week program for puppies eight weeks and older that introduces live birds to build drive, along with gunfire, water and decoys. Basic Retriever Training is a longer program of several months that covers basic obedience along with force fetch and collar conditioning, and has dogs marking singles on land and water; dogs must be at least six months old with good prey drive.

Background

The owners say their dogs are raised in the house and trained daily, and that they are building training grounds on their land so they can offer full-service retriever training and boarding. Ask about current availability when you get in touch.
