Overview
About Macho K9 Training
What they offer
Macho K9 Training is a dog training facility on 8th Street West in West Fargo. Its immersive programs are day training, where dogs are dropped off each weekday morning and picked up in the evening, and board and train, where dogs stay at the facility during the week and go home on weekends. Both build the same foundation skills – self-regulation, confidence, focus, a communication system and basic obedience such as loose leash walking, place, sit and name recognition – plus the goals set at an evaluation, and each week ends with a lesson for the owner.
Programs for different needs
Shorter programs suit basic obedience, while longer ones are aimed at dogs with moderate or significant reactivity, fear, anxiety or aggression. An off-leash program works on neutrality, a reliable recall and communication at a distance. Private lessons of 30 minutes to an hour coach owners through basic obedience or behavior modification for fear, anxiety or aggression.
Puppies and graduates
A six-week puppy class for puppies under five months is limited to three puppies and covers engagement, confidence, leash manners, settling, play and socialization. Dogs that finish a program can join pack classes, daycare and weekday boarding.
Method
The team describes its approach as balanced training: behaviors are taught first through positive reinforcement, and feedback and tools are layered in only where needed once a behavior is understood.
