About Dean’s List K9 Training LLC
Dean's List K9 Training has grown from one trainer to five since 2021, and the about page is one of the more informative in the region because every trainer writes their own bio.
What is sold
The site works in packages rather than single lessons: "We offer an extensive list of packages in hopes to offer something that will benefit everyone. If you don't see what you're looking for chances are we will be able to accommodate to your needs." The navigation lists training packages, an Adventure Club, day training and service or therapy dogs. Intake is low-commitment – "Sign up for a free over the phone evaluation or an in person evaluation so we can decide which package is right for you!" The adventure track is aimed at a specific kind of owner: "If you LOVE taking your dog on adventures we have the PERFECT package for you!"
The method
Balanced is the stated approach, and the site poses the question itself before answering it: "What is a balanced trainer?" The answer it gives is about communication rather than tools – "Our goal is to communicate with our four legged family members in a way that they can understand." The strapline across the site is "Teaching you how to give your dog a balanced and fulfilled life".
The team
The founder dates the business precisely: "I started DLK9 Training in 2021 after graduating from an in-person dog training program where I flourished in gaining 6 months of in person training experience, as well as earning many awards." The trainers who followed bring different backgrounds – one describes "working in almost every aspect of the dog world over the last 6 years! From boarding & daycare, training, vet med, and grooming!", another is "a graduate from Animal Behavior College" who holds "a special love for the more difficult cases (behavior modification)", a third came from "extensive experience and education in human behavior analysis and therapy" and says "I especially love working with puppies and reactive dogs", and a fourth graduated "from the Highland Canine School for Dog Trainers, specializing in Basic Obedience and Behavior Modification" after four years in veterinary medicine.
What to ask
Packages are quoted after the free evaluation; ask about prices then, and whether any of the five trainers holds a national certification such as CPDT-KA.
