Dog Days of Buffalo – Amherst Street
Overview
About Dog Days of Buffalo – Amherst Street
The Amherst Street site is the original Dog Days of Buffalo and, by the company's own description, the largest dog daycare in the city of Buffalo, with more than 9,000 square feet of combined indoor and outdoor play space.
The training side
Group training classes run alongside the daycare, with a dedicated Our Trainers page and a published training schedule that owners pre-register for. Puppy Kindergarten is a six-week course for puppies up to six months old, taught with positive reinforcement, covering sit, down, stay, leave it and drop it plus the common puppy problems, including house training and play biting. Basic Obedience follows it, and the schedule also carries a Therapy Dog Prep class and nose work.
The facility
Rooms are separated for large dogs and for small or shy dogs, all fully climate-controlled, heated, air conditioned and ventilated. The company states that every facility is cleaned and inspected daily and that all dogs must meet strict health standards. Dogs over four months need Bordetella, distemper/parvo and rabies vaccinations on file, emailed to the front desk before attending.
The rest of the company
Dog Days runs three sites in total, this one plus Harlem Road and Genesee Street in Cheektowaga, and offers professional grooming and a pet sitting and transport service. Tours are welcome any time.
