About Dog is Your Copilot LLC

Science-based training that starts with the whole dog

Dog Is Your Copilot is built around a comprehensive approach: "Elena uses a comprehensive approach to training that includes the dog's behavior history, emotional needs, abilities, as well as the the client's training needs." The stated position is that "good dog training should take into account more than just behavior. A dog's entire biology needs to be considered."

What is covered

Basic training is taught as a skill for the handler as much as the dog – "Elena will help you learn how to teach your dog, how to read and understand their body language, and how to use what motivates them to your advantage in everyday life." In-home lessons let clients "learn from the comfort of your own home," with unlimited contact between and after lessons. Problem behaviors named include jumping on guests, pulling on the leash and barking, and the site states that "more serious issues like aggression, anxiety, and fear can also be addressed." Group classes are offered for a variety of skill levels and disciplines, used deliberately to introduce distractions into training, and competition work is on the menu too: "Proving your own dog's training in competition is not only satisfying, but is a good test of skill."
