About Dog Training Personalized

Private, behavior-focused training

Dog Training Personalized offers private dog training for the Dayton area, with a clear emphasis on tailoring the approach to each dog's individual personality and strengths. The site is organized around common behavior problems it helps fix, including excessive barking, leash pulling, not coming when called, jumping on people, counter surfing, and resource guarding. Each issue has its own explainer, which signals a practical, problem-by-problem coaching style rather than a fixed curriculum.

Programs offered

Two main formats are described: private lessons, framed as a hands-on experience where owner and dog learn life-long skills together with ongoing support, and a board-and-train option where the dog stays with them to learn while the owner manages a busy lifestyle. The site notes the business was featured in a local story, and lists a phone number and email for scheduling. It does not publish prices or trainer credentials on the main page, so those details would come from a direct conversation. The consistent theme is individualized, communication-focused training aimed at everyday real-world manners.

What they can help with

Your dog stays with the trainer for an immersive, multi-week program.
Behavior modification for unwanted or problem habits.
Early socialization, house-training and first manners for young dogs.

My husband and I's dog training experience with Steve was wonderful. My husband and I reached out to Steve after we rescued a dog off of a street here in Dayton back in March. We worked endlessly with our new rescue and needed a little expertise to get us to that next stage. We also needed help with bonding with one of our other dogs. Steve always made us feel hopeful during and post our sessions. He was gentle, calm, and knowledgeable. By the end of the 10 sessions, our new dog is sitting patiently like a little gentleman and playing endlessly with his brothers. They are all getting along great now and will not leave each others side. Highly recommend if you need some training. Steve was great.

Steve did an excellent job with our two dogs, Raven and Carli. Was able to help with walking and obedience with Raven and crate training, obedience, and training collar with Carli. He was extremely helpful and patient with both of the dogs and us. Would highly recommend and we appreciate everything he did for us.

Steve did an awesome job with our dog Mac! We had rescued him last fall knowing he had so much potential . Steve helped give Mac and me confidence to have him around friends and family but, also out in public settings. The one on one trainings were really helpful for me personally ! I learned so much!

Completely forgot to do this earlier, sorry Steve!

Wife and I received Dipper, a Belgian Malinois and while we have had shepherds before and experience training, we were woefully unprepared. We made the right call when he was very young to get him into training asap and attempted to go to gem city dog obedience club for their puppy class.

For anyone who has a working class breed, avoid them like the plague. They gave us incorrect, frankly dangerous advice and continued to let us train there despite not having the experience. It was pretty cheap but honestly you get what you pay for.

After a month of this, we decided to leave and look for other options. I chose Dog Training Personalized obviously because of the good reviews but also felt that Dipper needed some 1-on-1 training(Turns out he didn't, WE did). Steve answered all questions over the phone and we came up with a plan for a few things, I was immediately sold.

Unlike Gem City, he didn't talk down to me or lecture me for the breed I got, he helped my wife and I learn not only how to manage him but also how to better communicate with him. Within the first lesson, he had Dipper healing and it was like watching the dog whisperer lol.

And if you do have a working class breed, I'd suggest doing the ecollar training class with Steve because it made an insane difference, but make sure to spend extra for a good E-collar.

We went from Dipper being insanely distracted, lunging and barking at strangers to having him sit and down calmly at a busy Lowe's while staying loose leash.

If we ever decide to do training again, no question, this is my dog trainer.

Steve has recently helped us with some reactive behavior with our Great Dane mix. While we are still very much a work in progress we are seeing positive results after a few sessions. Steve does a great job of finding ways to make things click with you and your dog. We now have the tools to be able to take our dog out into public comfortably and give him to support and discipline he needs to be successful. We still have a long road ahead but if you are stressed about a reactive dog please call him. He’s provided a lot of sound advice and was able to communicate all our options with an unbiased view that didn’t make us feel like terrible dog parents.
