About Doggieology 101

Calm dogs, confident owners

Doggieology 101, at 23085 W. Grass Lake Rd in Antioch, states its philosophy simply: "Leading and guiding your dog leads to cooperation." The site argues that human and dog relationships built on trust and respect produce calm, confident dogs, and that its job is to teach owners how human and dog psychology find harmony so they can, in its phrase, drop the leash and lead.

Training programs

The training page lists one-on-one training, follow-up training, Stay-N-Train, Puppy 101, e-collar training and day training at the facility, alongside boarding and doggie daycare on the care side. The programs are framed around rehabilitating unbalanced behavior: understanding dog psychology and body language, seeing how state of mind drives behavior, and then creating rules, boundaries and structure a dog can understand so old behaviors can be extinguished and healthier patterns put in place.

Consistency, and the team

A section the site calls "the slippery slope of inconsistency" makes its central point: dogs deal in yes or no rather than in gray, and mixed signals about what is acceptable create anxiety, stress and attitude problems that escalate if the dog is left to work life out alone. The home page lists a sizeable team under owner and lead trainer Carla, including kennel managers, kennel leads who also train, and kennel technicians, and mentions a summer kids camp run in July and August.
