About Double A Gun Dogs

Gun dog training in Lyons

Double A Outfitting & Gun Dogs is a gun dog training, boarding and hunting outfitting business in Lyons run by owner Aaron Schroder. Aaron grew up hunting in Eastern Nebraska and has guided and trained gun dogs in the Midwest as well as with Tiger Mountain Pointing Labs. Its dogs have been featured on Scott Linden's Wingshooting USA and in Nebraskaland Magazine, and the pack includes German Shorthaired Pointers and Labrador Retrievers.

Training

Double A builds custom training programs for gun dogs, whether that means starting a puppy on birds, adding retriever and fetch work, preparing for dog trials or refreshing a dog before upland or waterfowl season. The in-depth program includes plenty of bird work. Clients describe a 2-month foundation training, advanced training, force fetch, weekly updates and owner field days where Aaron teaches the handler alongside the dog.

Boarding and outfitting

Limited dog boarding runs through the spring, summer and fall for the Omaha and Sioux City area, with pick-up and drop-off to Omaha several days a week. Double A also guides upland and waterfowl hunts throughout Nebraska and the surrounding states.
