About Enlightened Hounds Dog Training
Science-based training in Austin
Enlightened Hounds Dog Training was founded in Austin in 2017 by trainers Lydia Yancey and Meggan Porter, and a team of trainers continues serving the Austin area. The business is queer and woman owned, licensed, bonded and insured, and its trainers are certified. Its approach is choice based and fear free: plans look at a dog's relationships, environment, health and history to find the root cause of behavior, using up-to-date, science-supported methods.
The Austin team
Maida Barbour holds the CPDT-KA and CBCC-KA credentials and trained in Austin at Love-a-Bull rescue, Texas Hearing and Service Dogs, the Dog Alliance and the Canine Center for Training and Behavior. Giulia Giuffre holds the CPDT-KA and a Shelter Behavior Affiliate credential and is a Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.
Services and workshops
Services include private lessons, behavior consulting with a certified behavior consultant, day training, and board and train in a trainer's home. Group workshops are held at public spots set by the trainer, including sessions in Manor, and cost $75 per session. Topics include Beginner Basics, recall, settling and relaxing, stay and place, leave it and drop it, loose leash walking, polite greetings and Canine Good Citizen prep.
