Team coaching in St. Petersburg

Everyday K9 is a St. Petersburg dog training business that coaches dog-and-human teams across the area through local classes, private sessions, day camp options and community outings. Its motto is "Kalm Dogs. Confident Humans. Connected Teams."

The founder

Heather founded Everyday K9 in 2016 and says she has been training dogs since 2006, working with reactive, anxious, excitable, fearful and aggressive dogs. She started out teaching classes at the Dog Training Club of St. Petersburg, and her own dog Gates, an American Pit Bull Terrier, shaped how she understands the link between behavior and anxiety.

Philosophy

Everyday K9 treats behavior as communication and sees aggression, hyperactivity and disobedience as expressions of anxiety. Training starts at home, boundaries and consistency build trust, and people get as much coaching as their dogs. The program focuses on emotional regulation rather than tricks, and Heather aims to be a place where every dog is welcome. Clients can text questions, send videos between sessions, or come to a class just to watch.
