About Extreme K-9

A Springfield satellite of a southern Illinois training business

Extreme K-9's main location is given as 1888 South Wolf Creek Road, Carbondale, with a satellite location at 2328 Peerless Mine Road, Springfield, listed under its own phone number and its own email contact. The team page names Behesha Doan as Owner and Training Director at Carbondale, Susan Poludniak for the Springfield location, Andrea Hansen as Assistant Training Director, Moriah Payne as Senior Trainer, and Sonja Krueger and Adelaide Maciak as trainers. Springfield clients would be working with the satellite rather than the main site.

Method

The site calls its approach "Whole Dog" training and states the premise plainly: "We teach you to think the way your dog thinks, to understand what matters to them and to work with who your dog naturally is." It argues that clear training is the opposite of making dogs robotic – that it helps a dog make sense of a human world it has no way of parsing. The navigation carries topic pages named Tonal Inflections and OODA Cycle, and a Dog Behavior Psychology Lecture, which points to an explanatory, owner-taught style rather than drills alone.

Problem behaviors

The clearest thing the site offers is a specific list of what it takes on: dog-to-dog aggression, dog-to-human aggression, food aggression and possessiveness, fearfulness, shyness, sound and touch sensitivity, fear biting, fear of men, women or children, housebreaking problems, separation anxiety, destructiveness, escapism and self-mutilation, and excessive barking, chewing, digging, jumping and car chasing. Alongside that it lists classes for owners whose dogs have no problem at all – off-leash recall, hide-and-seek, tricks and retrieving. Boarding and Service Dog Assessments and Specialty Training are listed as services; client accounts on the site name a "Get Real Obedience" class and "Relationship 101" classes.

What the site does not actually say

Read the site carefully, because large parts of it are unedited template. The About page and its duplicate both open with "We Are Roger Best Pet Care" – the name of the WordPress theme, not the business – and their Vision, Mission, Values and What We Do sections are all lorem ipsum placeholder text. The counters beneath them read zero happy clients, zero professionals, zero adopted pets and zero awards, which are placeholder values and not a claim about the business. On the Services page, the second service tile, "Dog Walking," carries placeholder text in Romanian, so dog walking should not be read as a service offered. The same page shows unhandled PHP warnings, and the contact form returns "Error: Contact form not found" – so call or email rather than relying on the form.
