About Five Star Sporting Dogs

Sporting and hunting dog training near Mt. Vernon

Five Star Sporting Dogs is a sporting dog specialist rather than a general pet trainer. The site heads itself "Professional Sporting Dog Training | Award Winning Hunting Dog Trainer | Mt. Vernon, IL" and sets out the offering as Southern Illinois sporting dog training, obedience training and kennel services. If your dog is a gun dog and you want it steady in the field and on the water, this is the kind of program being described; if you want household manners, the obedience course sits alongside it.

Courses listed

The site lists Upland Bird Training, Water Training for hunting dogs, a Hunting Dog Boot Camp summarized as "Come. Sit. Stay. Heel.", Illinois dog obedience training, and kennel and boarding services. These are presented as a selection to choose from, mixing hunting dog training with domestic obedience.

Track record as stated on the site

The only performance detail the site gives is a client testimonial, which we pass on as a quote rather than as a claim of our own. It is attributed to Bob Buck of Trinity, Florida, and reads: "I chose FiveStar to help me train a Small Munsterlander – my first pointer, Cooper. I've never met anyone that can train dogs like Bob Davis. Cooper has scored 112 in Natural Ability (test) with NAVHDA — a perfect score." Its footer carries a 2012 copyright line, so it is worth calling to confirm current programs and availability.
