About Freedom Service Dogs of America
What they offer
Freedom Service Dogs of America is a nonprofit in Englewood that breeds, raises, trains and places assistance dogs, provided at no cost to the people it serves. It works with veterans and active-duty military, first responders, young adults and adults living with post-traumatic stress disorder, autism and mobility limitations from conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injury.
Programs
Each dog is custom-trained for a specific client and matched to that person, and the organization provides a lifetime of support to the team afterward. It also trains facility dogs that work alongside mental health and crisis-support professionals in schools, hospitals and first responder departments. The site says the organization was founded in 1987 and has created hundreds of client-dog teams, and describes a renovated campus with training space, kennels and play yards for its dogs.
