Field training built on fundamentals

Gamekeepers Retrievers is led by head field trainer Mitch White, who has trained retrievers since 1988. The program covers retrievers of all breeds plus spaniels and poodles, preparing dogs for AKC hunt tests, breed-club field programs, and life as personal hunting companions. Private lessons and traveling seminars round out the offering.

Philosophy and credentials

White's stated approach centers on fairness to the dog and putting in the work to teach a solid foundation, so the dog builds a skill set that helps it make good decisions in the field. His judging credentials include AKC Master/Senior/Junior Hunt Test Judge and WC/WCI/WCX approved judge across multiple breeds, and he has held leadership roles in Flat-Coated Retriever clubs. This is a clear gun-dog/retriever training operation.
