My dog is full of enthusiasm and energy, and before working with Katrina, it was hard to feel confident taking her places because I never knew if she’d actually listen. After training with Katrina, I can take her anywhere and trust that she’ll respond, even with distractions.

My dog is also going through an age/breed-related fear phase, and Katrina has been amazing at helping us navigate it. She notices the smallest changes, explains what’s going on, and adjusts what we’re doing so we handle those moments the right way. It’s clear she truly understands dogs and cares about helping them feel secure.

The best part is that it’s not just my dog’s behavior that has improved — our whole relationship feels better. I feel more connected, more confident, and like we’re finally working as a team.

We rescued Archie nearly a year and a half ago from the streets of Cleveland. A small 10# dog at the time, came with BIG attitude! Scared, under weight and not trusting.

My husband and I put in time and money in the form of several “obedience” training session with other trainers. Nothing was breaking through with Archie. He was extremely reactive and possessive, but was able to “sit” and “down” and could easily walk on leash.

This was not what we were looking for. When we found Grand River K9, LLC, we found what we needed. Katrina is able to watch what Archie is “saying” and adjust to how to handle it. This is NOT a “one size fits all” program. Our training has been tailored to our needs and we LOVE it!!

Not only is Archie being trained, but we are being trained too. We notice the difference and those who have known Archie from the beginning notice the difference also. It is a process and we find new things that we all want to learn, including Archie, as we go along.

Archie is definitely happier and more confident with this training program. We continue to learn so much. I adopted a dog from the Lake County animal shelter in the fall of 2022. For months I had a hard time walking him due to his pulling and reacting to other dogs and people. He would pull so hard that i actually fell to the ground several times. I enrolled him in a group basic training class that wasn't very helpful because he was reacting to the other dogs in the class. I found Grand River K-9 and began individually working with Katrina. I had never owned a reactive dog and Katrina helped me understand his behaviors and what to do about them.
We began training weekly in area parks and I learned how to correctly walk him and reward him. We worked on his reactivity and slowly he became less reactive. All the while Katrina offered excellent guidance, knowledge and support. She understands the time and patience it took to teach ME how to understand and teach my dog. We worked at a pace that was comfortable for me and eventually worked up to walking in stores with my dog completely under my control. He is so much more enjoyable now; we can walk anywhere now with no issues.

Katrina helped my dog become a certified therapy dog. She is great with her understanding of dogs and knowing how to help owners work with their dogs to get results. She did great with reactivity training. My dog has come so far since he started working with her.
