About Green Valley Hunting and Retriever Club
A club for hunting dog handlers
Green Valley Hunting and Retriever Club (GVHRC) is a hunting dog training club based in Creswell, made up of individuals and families who enjoy training their dogs. It is an official UKC/HRC organization and a nonprofit, and it focuses on a friendly, safe training atmosphere aimed at improving the working ability of each member's hunting companion.
Training days
GVHRC holds training sessions one weekend day each month from March to June, where handlers prepare their pointers, flushers and retrievers for hunt tests and real hunting situations. Novice handlers can work with experienced members. First-time owners get help with obedience, then step-by-step help with lining and handling drills, controlled quartering and trailing for upland game with steadiness to flush and shot. Training groups cost $20 per dog, upland braces are $25, and annual dues are $50 per family.
Events
The club year includes a January banquet, a booth at the Lane County Sportsman's Show in February, a clay targets Fun Shoot in July and an August "Ten Singles" retrieving competition with a final braces event for upland dogs.
