About Hearth and Hounds

Houston training for reactive, anxious and rescue dogs

Hearth & Hounds is a Houston dog training and pet care team founded by Kourtenay Dolmos, a CGC Evaluator credited with 8+ years of experience and a background in canine nutrition. Training comes to you, in your home and your dog's world, with the same trainer every session. The approach is LIMA-informed (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) and uses BAT (Behavior Adjustment Training), private lessons and field trips into parks, trails and pet-friendly stores.

Training and board and train

A private lesson (60 min) is $120, a field trip (60 min) is $95 and a reactive dog BAT session (about 20 minutes) is $40. The two-week Board & Train ($1,800) has the dog live and train in the team's home, one dog at a time, with three lessons for the owner and follow-up lessons at $90 each. A phone consult and in-person assessment come first.

Walks and pet care

Dog walks start at $25, drop-in care at $20 to $25, and pet-sitting at $60 for a day or $80 with an overnight.

What owners say

"We've been doing weekly lessons for about 4 months for dog reactivity and she has improved so much! When we started, she would bark and lunge at dogs 100+ ft away." — Amy Lin
