About Hemlock K9 Training

About

Hemlock K9 Training is a board-and-train and day-training business in Avon run by owner and professional trainer Melissa. She began as an apprentice at K9one at Stonehill Kennel in Goshen in Summer 2019, training there for about two years under mentor Chris Byrne, and later completed a 6 month mentorship with trainer Ches Pickering. She regularly attends seminars held by trainers including Ivan Balabanov, Jay Jack and Justin Rigney.

Philosophy

Hemlock K9 focuses on clear communication between dog and owner, and educates owners on both the psychology and the physical wellbeing of their dogs, treating mind and body as connected.

Programs

Board & Train, the most popular option, suits dogs with reactivity, aggression or other behavior issues. Day Train offers 2, 4 and 6 week programs of structured daytime training and socialization. Walk & Train combines dog walking with leash work, Tails & Trails Adventures take dogs hiking and swimming while working on recall and pack manners, Puppy Day Train covers loose leash walking, basic commands and socialization, and Pack Walks are held 1-2 times a month.
