About HSSPV Dog Behavior & Training

What they offer

The Humane Society of the South Platte Valley runs on-site group training classes for the public. Puppy Preschool, for puppies 3 to 6 months, covers safe socialization and practical skills such as polite greetings, come, loose-leash walking, leave it and drop it, in six weekly one-hour lessons. Basics and Manners, for dogs 7 months and older, practices engagement around distractions and covers sit, down, stay, wait, loose-leash walking and come.

How they train

The behavior and training page says its methods are founded in science and consent-based training, using motivation and positive reinforcement, and that it teaches owners to take training into the real world.

Good to know

Class schedules depend on trainer availability, so check the behavior and training page or email the team to confirm a class is running. The page also offers a referral list of trainers for basic manners and reactivity classes.
