About Julie’s K9 Academy

About

Julie's K9 Academy is run by founder Julie Barber and head trainer Josh, with a location just outside downtown Frederick and a second location in Falling Waters, West Virginia. The trainers attended intensive trainer workshops and seminars, and Josh runs a shadow program for trainers.

Programs

Training is built around board and train, an immersive program of daily structure, rules, socialization and supervised play. The three-week basic obedience board and train teaches sit, down, place, heel, come and calm on command, on and off leash, with a go-home session and a follow-up in the owner's home. Dogs with aggression toward dogs or people, resource guarding, severe fear and anxiety or severe leash reactivity go into a six- to eight-week behavior modification and rehabilitation program. Graduates can return for boarding and join monthly pack walks in downtown Frederick.
