About K-9 Specialists

Training camps and German Shepherds in Ocala

K-9 Specialists is a family-owned breeder and trainer in Ocala, by appointment at 8201 SW 27th Ave. It breeds and imports Czech German Shepherd Dogs and European Doberman Pinschers, offers fully trained adult dogs and puppies, and runs boarding and training camps for dogs of all breeds and ages. Most training takes place at the Ocala facility, and trainers also visit clients in Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami and Tampa.

Programs

Camp options include Puppy Board & Train, a one-week-plus Tune Up, Level I and Level II Board & Train, and behavior modification for aggression and misbehavior. Individual or group obedience sessions, behavioral consultation, Schutzhund and detection work, and personal, security and executive protection training are also offered. The team says it has trained hundreds of German Shepherds and titled over 80.

Philosophy

The approach is to identify the problem, find a solution and educate the owner. The team calls its philosophy strict but built on fairness, consistency and kindness, with dogs following a hierarchy led by their owners.

Team

Owners are Libor and Rachael Zavalsky. Master trainer Joey Butcher cites 30+ years in the dog industry and certification as a narcotics and explosive handler and K-9 instructor.
