Dogs of all ages and breeds can train at Petco store 2780, 4475 SW 40th Ave, Ocala, FL 34474. Grooming, an aquatics section and a vaccine clinic share the building.

How classes are organized

Six-week group courses meet for an hour, with up to four other dogs and owners in each. Puppies from 8 to 16 weeks start with potty training, socialization and foundational cues; dogs from 16 weeks to 6 months move to Beginner for loose-leash walking, leave it, wait and tricks. Older dogs can take Fundamentals, which adds work on jumping and barking, or Advanced, which covers heel, recall around distractions and polite greetings. For one-on-one help, 45-minute private sessions come with a customized plan and flexible scheduling, and new customers can begin with an introductory Private Lesson 101.

When to call

Trainers are available from 9 AM until 9 PM Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM until 9:30 PM Friday and Saturday, and 9 AM until 8 PM Sunday. Phone (352) 291-9130.
