About K9s 4 Mobility

What they offer

K9s 4 Mobility is a non-profit organization in Cheyenne, founded in 2012, that trains, places and supports assistance dog partnerships. It trains guide, service and facility dogs, and each dog is selected and trained for a specific person so that its personality, size and skills fit the partnership.

How placement works

Placements happen in the person's home and involve one-on-one attention over 12 to 14 days. The organization also offers training and support to any assistance dog team, wherever the dog came from. Volunteer puppy raisers help raise and train puppies with the potential to become assistance dogs.

What to know before applying

The organization says it does not train dogs for PTSD, hearing loss, alerting to medical emergencies, anxiety, behavior or emotional support. Applications for guide, service and facility dogs are on its website, and its training facility is on Campstool Road in Cheyenne.
