What they offer

Wyoming K-9 Training Academy is a dog training center in Cheyenne that works with dogs of all ages, breeds and temperaments. Its three core services are reactive dog training, obedience training and service dog training, and it serves Cheyenne and nearby communities across southeastern Wyoming.

Obedience and puppy training

Puppy training is for dogs between eight weeks and six months and covers sit, stay, come, leash walking and early socialization. Basic obedience teaches essential commands, manners and basic off-leash control, advanced training adds complex commands, impulse control and problem solving, and behavior modification targets habits such as excessive barking, jumping and leash aggression. One-on-one sessions can be built around a specific goal.

Reactive dogs

The reactive dog program begins with a personal behavioral assessment to find the dog's triggers, then follows a structured plan using counterconditioning, desensitization and impulse control exercises for dogs that bark, lunge or panic around other dogs, people or busy places.

Service dogs

The academy trains service dogs for physical disabilities and psychiatric conditions, including mobility support and help managing anxiety or PTSD. Programs include candidate selection and matching, task training tailored to the handler, and handler training and education.
