About Krystal Creek Kennels
What it offers
Krystal Creek Kennels runs two published training tracks under the same phone number, 920-668-8619. The obedience page opens with "No problem is too big or too small" and lists its scope as "Heel, recall, behavioral, e-collar, perimeter training, place, stay, sit, socialization skills, focus, anxiety, agility and much more." The site sets expectations plainly: "It takes about two years to fully train a dog for obedience and/or hunting. We give you the tools to train your dog, it is up to you to use those tools to complete your dogs training." The obedience page also credits a staff member by name – "Jordynn does a great job, she earned a degree from Duke University in Dog Behavior and Cognition" – and tells callers to "ask for Tracy or Jordynn."
Obedience, with prices
Three obedience products are listed. The "Confidence Building Class" is $45, with a $20 discount for four bought up front; it runs "four to six dogs at each class," on leash, working through stations with obstacles such as "a kids pool filled with empty bottles, a raised bench, weave poles, standing on top of buckets, tunnel, pile of boxes." The site is specific about who it is for and how dogs are handled: "These classes are geared towards dogs with anxiety, shyness, dog aggression and dogs that need to learn to focus, but anyone is welcome. The dogs do not meet one another, they are taught to ignore the dogs and focus on their handler." Classes run "outdoors April through October, depending on the weather." "Private Lessons" are $60 for an hour, with a $30 discount on four, and "You get things to work on at home between sessions." "Monthly Obedience Training" is $800 for four weeks, with two formats: "Your dog can stay at our kennel or, if you live close enough, you can drop your dog off in the training room every morning and pick up every night Monday thru Friday," with a weekly visit either way.
Hunting training
The hunting page covers "Introduction to birds, guns, e-collars, gun shyness, ACK hunt tests, NAVHDA hunt tests, German hunt tests, tracking, fetching, heeling, steadiness on game, upland work, waterfowl work, blood tracking, blind retrieves and much more." Private hunting lessons are "$100 + Birds" for an hour, "Half of the session is on hunting, half is on obedience." Monthly hunting training is staged and gated by what the dog has already done: "Beginner Hunting Training $1,000 + Birds" for dogs six months or older, "Basic Hunting Training $1,200 + Birds" for dogs that have had birds shot over them and e-collar conditioning, "Intermediate Hunting Training $1,400 + Birds" for dogs through trained retrieve and steadiness, and "Advanced Hunting Training $1,800 + Birds" for dogs holding "a Prize I in the NAVHDA Utility Test."
Conditions
Dogs must be "current on bordetella and age appropriate vaccinations" to start private lessons, the schedule "can usually only accommodate one lesson per week per customer," and for monthly training the site recommends mailing a deposit to reserve a spot. Boarding, grooming and breeding are run from the same site.
