Who runs it

Full Throttle Kennel's own pages name the owner: "Jessie Lee Richards, owner and operator of Full Throttle Kennel specializes in training retrievers for waterfowl and upland hunting. She also competes in AKC Hunt Tests and Field Trials." The about page is written in her voice and gives her background in her own words – a Milwaukee upbringing around Labrador retrievers, a 2010 degree from Alverno College "with a double major in business management and professional communications," work for two area dog trainers, workshops with top trainers, and a mentor she names as Ray Voigt. The kennel address is given as "W1134 Old Bridge Rd, Campbellsport, WI 53010," with a second location listed in "Boston, GA," and appointments only.

What it trains

The services list on the home page reads: "Gun Dog Training, Waterfowl, Upland, Hunt Test Training, Field Trial Training, All-Breed Obedience Training, Boarding." The about page fills that in: "I train retrievers for upland and waterfowl hunting and also for AKC hunt tests and field trials. I have titled many junior, senior and master hunter dogs, both for clients and some of my own. I have also taken several dogs to QAA level in field trials." It also describes a young-dog program: "I offer a puppy head start program that has produced very good results. We introduce young dogs to water, birds, obedience and to the gun, the correct way."

Facilities and the training year

The about page describes a property built out over time – a move to "a 40-acre property, where I designed and had a new indoor kennel built, complete with in-floor heat," plus "four training ponds to complement the training fields," which the site says gives "the opportunity to train the dogs in a variety of situations over land and water." The year has a shape too: guiding pheasant hunters at Wisconsin hunt clubs in the fall, a waterfowl trip to Saskatchewan in October, and "From January through April – the cold and snowy months in the North – I travel to south Georgia to offer winter training," near Thomasville.
