About Legion K9 LLC

Veteran-owned training in Hayden

Legion K9 is a veteran-owned dog training company operating from a 4,000 square foot facility in Hayden, and it says it was voted Idaho's Best Dog Trainer. It specializes in aggression and reactivity, obedience, working-dog development, and service and therapy dog training for people who need task-based support, with every program tailored to the dog's temperament, drive and real-world needs.

The founder

Owner Kris Williams traces his interest in working dogs to an Army deployment in Afghanistan. After military service and a brief time in law enforcement, he completed a 13-week trainer/handler academy, where he trained an explosive and firearm detection K9 and built the foundation of the system he uses today.

Day training

In the day training program the dog trains during the day and goes home at night. The Standard Day Train is a 4-week off-leash obedience program (Mon/Fri or Tue/Thu, 9 am to 4 pm) with 3 private sessions and full e-collar training, and a Behavior Modification Day Train places dogs in tiers by level of reactivity or aggression. On-Leash Foundations runs Wednesdays and Saturdays for 4 weeks with one private session. Training covers heeling, place, recall, neutrality and real-world exposure in stores, parks and trails. Mobile in-home training is also offered, and every dog starts with a consultation.
