Lil' Scouts Friendly Dog Trainers is based at 21 Fountain Dr in Orange Park, inside Poochie's Park, an 8-acre dog park with nature areas, amusements and facilities for friendly dogs and their people. Head trainer and manager Kasara Wilson has spent the past 9 years studying canine behavior and is an APDT member with multiple certifications. David Kophamer, who has owned Poochie's Park with Heather Kophamer since 2004, owns Lil' Scouts.

Method

Lil' Scouts describes itself as a LIMA-compliant training company, meaning its training is least intrusive and minimally aversive. Trainers use free shaping to reward positive behavior, and owners take part at every step.

Programs

Options include a training camp with board and train, the two-week Scouts' Trail, single-skill hybrid courses, socialization training, off-leash behavior improvement, private lessons and group classes. Daycare & Train and Board & Train both come with personalized videos of the dog's progress, and owners may visit during a stay. Hours are Monday to Friday 7 am to 7 pm and weekends 9 am to 5 pm. A free consultation helps pick a program.
