About Live Oak Dog Obedience Utah
Canine psychology and small classes
Live Oak Dog Obedience Utah runs dog training classes at its Riverton facility, with an indoor climate-controlled arena for winter and outdoor spaces when weather allows. It is led by canine behavior specialist Jan Perkins, who started Live Oak Dog Obedience in 1978 and has operated in Utah since 1996. Her approach mirrors the natural boundary-setting methods dogs use with each other, teaching owners to read body language and build relationship-focused manners over a reliance on treats or force. Jan is certified with the American Kennel Club as a CGC instructor and holds tests throughout the year. Kelsey Larsen joined in 2017 and focuses on agility.
Classes
Classes are intentionally small and include Puppy 1st Time Obedience, beginner, intermediate and advanced obedience, walk and train, tracking, rally, scent work, agility, strength and conditioning, and rattlesnake avoidance. Flexible scheduling lets owners attend several small group sessions a week.
