About Logical K9

Logical K9 is one of the few trainers in Genesee County that publishes what its programs cost before you call, which makes it unusually easy to work out whether it fits. It describes itself as "a small-scale, one-of-a-kind dog training and camp focusing on realistic expectations and understanding the mind of your dog", and everything it sells runs at its own facility in Alexander unless other arrangements are made.

The three programs

The entry point is Day Camp and Train: seven weeks, two days a week of your choosing, with a go-home lesson in the eighth week, at $53 a day, or $1,000 paid in full including the equipment package and fourteen training days. The site is explicit that this track "is mostly designed for dogs without behavioral issues, reactivity, or dog/human aggression".

The Three Week Camp and Train is described as "the A to Z program", starting with leash work and ending with the dog off leash under what the school calls "a line of communication with their handler", with heavy distraction proofing in between; it is listed at $2,400.

The Four Week Camp and Train is the harder-case program, and the site names the cases it takes: "reactivity, anxiety, fear-driven aggression, resource guarding, even bite records". It is listed at $3,000, and the site says realistic expectations are discussed before any booking.

What happens after the dog goes home

Every camp-and-train program includes what the school calls 24/7 support afterwards, plus monthly pack walks and access to the day-camp program to keep the training in use. A go-home lesson is a separate line at $75, and the school says continued correspondence after it is required "to ensure that your end of the deal is being kept".

Day camp

Day camp is $25 a day, Monday to Friday, and is normally reserved for dogs that have finished a training program and earned what the site calls full freedom – pack hikes, obedience and free movement through the day's activities. The site notes some exceptions for dogs that have not been through training.

Also on offer

The owner is a Raw Dog Food Nutrition Specialist certified through DNM University and sells custom raw feeding plans. That is nutrition rather than training, sold alongside the programs.

A consultation is required before any program, so that the school can decide which one a dog is eligible for.
