Lucky Star Dog Training is an Austin dog training, boarding and daycare business run by owner Jennifer "Jen" Higgins, originally from Paris, France. Jen is described as a certified canine behavioral specialist and a graduate of Triple Crown Academy, trained in behavior and psychology, obedience, service, scent detection, retrieving and protection work. She has studied with behaviorists in Europe, is Pet CPR and First Aid trained, and volunteers training rescue dogs.

Training programs

Lucky Star takes a balanced, holistic approach and treats training as a lifestyle change. The 3-week board and train takes place in a home setting and ends with a full go-home lesson, a week of daily text check-ins and a follow-up lesson. Private lessons are scheduled at the owner's rhythm. Both follow a basic obedience program: heel on or off leash, heel-sit, sit and down with duration, distance and distractions, place, leave it and come. E-collar training starts at the lowest level the dog notices, paired with positive reinforcement. Puppy Imprinting covers pups up to six months, and Tricks & Treats uses clicker training.

Boarding and daycare

Dogs board in a home with a backyard set up as a dog park, and trainer-supervised daycare play days enforce polite behavior.
