About Luxury Acres Pet Resort

Luxury Acres Pet Resort is a boarding business with a serious training arm attached, and the training arm is the more unusual half.

Board-and-train

The program is described as giving a dog "personalized training while they stay in a safe and caring environment", covering basic obedience, behavioral modification or advanced skills depending on the dog, and the site is specific that all board-and-train work happens inside the cabin rather than in the kennel building, which it says makes going home easier.

Private training, and the service-dog work

The site claims more than sixteen years of training experience "with dogs of all ages, from teaching puppy basics, behavioral rehabilitation, to preparing service dogs for specialized roles". Its stated current focus is service dogs, and it names the conditions it prepares them for: autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, diabetes, PTSD, POTS, mobility challenges, hearing impairment and vision loss. The owner is described as having prepared assistance dogs for children and adults, and the site names him alongside a second business he founded.

The premises

The resort takes a maximum of twelve dogs at a time, in five-by-six suites the site says use no crates, cages or wire, each with a raised bed, a television, a surveillance camera and a HEPA air purifier. Staff live on site. Beyond the building there are more than 100 acres of woodland with over three miles of maintained trails, seasonal creeks and ponds, all reserved for guests. Owners get daily photo and video updates, and can ask for more on request.

Worth knowing

This resort shares a phone number and an owner with a separate, already-listed business in Pittsford. They are different premises doing different things – a rural boarding and training resort in Orleans County, and a training practice in Monroe County – and the two records should not be read as duplicates.
