About Mulberry Creek Kennels
About
Mulberry Creek Kennels is a dog boarding and training facility on Georgia Highway 219 in Fortson, which its own page places "conveniently outside of Columbus, GA". The site names the Bice family – Marcus and Shannon – and dates the kennel's start as a part-time family operation to 1995, the move to the current location to 1999 and the addition of boarding to 2006.
Retriever training
The gun dog work is published in three stages with a time estimate for each. Basic Retrieving, typically three to four months, introduces birds, guns and decoys and produces a dog that is off-leash obedient, retrieves marked single birds to hand and is steady to shot. Intermediate Retrieving adds simple multiple marks, basic blind retrieves and hunting scenarios such as boats and duck blinds. Master Retrieving takes the dog to one hundred yard multiple and blind retrieves with diversions in the field. Rates are published on the page, including a handler's fee for hunt tests.
Obedience
Obedience and manners training is offered separately for all breeds and ages. The site's reasoning is that dogs "are much more enjoyable when trained because they want established boundaries and need to know their place in the family unit".
Boarding
Boarding runs from the same country kennels, which the site describes as having plenty of room for a dog to run and play.
