About Olympus Kennels

Protection dogs for the family

Olympus Kennels in Paragould is owned and operated by Brian Smith and focuses on elite protection dogs: dogs capable of protecting a family "in any situation" while staying stable enough to live at home as a protector and pet. Staff guide buyers through choosing a fully trained adult protection dog and personally deliver it to the family. Families can also start with a puppy from the kennel's breeding program, which Olympus then trains to become a family protection dog.

The trainer

Brian is described as a former police K9 officer with 25 years of law enforcement experience who now works full time at the kennel. He grew up in Northeast Arkansas and began breeding, training and selling Labrador Retrievers for the duck hunting community as a teenager. He started his law enforcement career in 1994, helped train his department's multi-purpose K9, and later worked as a K9 handler of a multi-purpose K9 until he left the department in July 2021.

The dogs

The breeding program is built around Ares, a Serbian bred Belgian Malinois who holds a Protection Dog Certificate, and Ciro, an IGP3 titled German Shepherd imported from the Czech Republic. Owners of Olympus dogs can connect with other clients through social media.
