One Smart Dog Training & Behavior is a Shelton dog training business founded and owned by head trainer Dawn Lowery, CPDT-KA, ACDBC, CFDM, who brings more than 18 years of experience. A graduate of the Animal Behavior College trainer program, she is also a Certified Puppy Start Right Instructor through Karen Pryor Academy, an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and a CATCH Academy Mentor Trainer. Her expertise has been featured in the New Haven Register and the Connecticut Post.

Method

One Smart Dog uses reward-based methods backed by science: positive reinforcement, management of the dog's environment, and desensitization and counterconditioning to change how a dog feels about a trigger. Every dog gets an individualized training plan.

Services

In-home private training covers behavior issues such as aggression, fear, anxiety, reactivity and resource guarding, plus everyday coaching for loose leash walking, recall, jumping and puppy training. Group classes include a Puppy Class, a Basic Manners Class, real world classes and workshops.
