About Pawsitive Canine
Force-free behavior help in Orlando
Pawsitive Canine is a force-free dog training and behavior practice in Orlando, also serving Winter Park, led by Catherine Harvey, ACDBC, CPDT-KA. Its mission is a unique, realistic training program for each dog that benefits the dog's overall well-being, with proper puppy socialization at the heart of raising a well-rounded dog.
Philosophy
Catherine works alongside owners to change unwanted behavior with simple, gentle, science-based techniques, noting that training a sea lion uses the same techniques as training a dog. She stresses that there is no quick fix and that trust, respect and patience come first. Her principles include keeping the dog's point of view in mind, working off leash when it is safe and building a real relationship with the dog.
Common problems addressed
The practice works on excessive barking, digging, house soiling, jumping on people, rushing or bolting out the front door, leash pulling, shyness and fear of strangers, reactivity toward people or dogs, and separation anxiety.
Credentials
Catherine is an Associate Certified Canine Behavior Consultant with the IAABC and a CPDT-KA. She holds an AA in psychology from Valencia College in Orlando, instructs at the International College of Canine Studies and belongs to the Pet Professional Guild and the Force Free Trainer Network of Central Florida.
