What they offer

PAWSitive Training is run by a Karen Pryor Academy certified trainer and AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator, and holds its classes in an indoor, heated 60 by 80 foot arena in Sheridan. Basic obedience focuses on positive training methods and everyday manners, with five-week group classes for puppies from 11 weeks to six months, which include off-leash socialization, and for adolescent and adult dogs, which focus on attention on the handler. Private lessons are available for puppies and adults and are tailored to each dog.

Dog sports and titles

Beyond obedience, the schedule includes nosework and scent work foundations, beginning to advanced agility, rally obedience and Rally Free, a sport that combines freestyle tricks with the rally format. Canine Good Citizen classes prepare dogs and handlers for the CGC, CGCA and CGCU tests, which are evaluated on site, along with AKC trick titles.

Before the first class

The trainer asks to speak with every new client in person or by phone before they sign up. Read the first class information and policies, bring the completed registration form to the first class, and make sure your dog is up to date on vaccinations.
