Pawsitively Trained is a Sherwood training business on SW Pacific Hwy, serving areas around Sherwood plus remote learning. Trainer Kelsey has trained horses and dogs for over 20 years and works with puppies, dogs, horses and pet professionals through FOCUS programs: Fostering enrichment, Observing body language, Considering context, Understanding your role and Supporting mind and body.

Method

The program uses a LIMA approach, Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive, with reinforcement as the primary motivator: food rewards plus play, affection, praise and enrichment. It treats behavior problems as symptoms and looks for the root cause, and it helps with aggression, anxiety, fear, basic life skills and public manners. Owners are coached to become their animal's primary trainer.

Credentials

Kelsey holds the CPDT-KA, is an Animal Behavior College Certified Professional Dog Trainer, completed the LEGS Family Dog Mediation professional course and is a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. She is a professional member of the APDT, a Pet Professional Guild member and a Guide Dogs for the Blind puppy raiser.

Scheduling

While Kelsey is on maternity leave, the FOCUS on Dogs Membership stays open, with group training options, a community discussion group and trainer Q&A sessions.
