Petco Dog Training in Amherst offers group and private classes inside the Petco store at 123 Rte 101A, built around positive reinforcement and practical skills for everyday life with pets.

Group classes

In-store group classes run 6 weeks, with hour-long sessions alongside up to four other dogs. Each level is $149. Puppy is for dogs 8 to 16 weeks old and covers potty training, socialization and cues like sit, down and come. Beginner, for 16 weeks to 6 months, adds loose-leash walking, leave it, wait, tricks and games. Fundamentals, for dogs 6+ months, covers core cues and curbing jumping and barking, and Advanced works on heel, recall with distractions and polite greetings.

Private lessons

Private classes are 45-minute one-on-one sessions with flexible scheduling and a customized training plan. New customers can book a $39 Private Lesson 101 to set goals with a trainer, and packages are $249 for 4 sessions or $329 for 6. A full refund is available up to the start of the second class; after that, the store says it will help you reach your goals, even if that means retaking the class for free.
