About PetSmart Dog Training in Kansas City

This is the training service inside the PetSmart store at 8500 N Evanston Rd, Kansas City, MO 64157, on 816-407-9195, open until 9pm on weekdays. The page is specific about the local setting: "Group classes at Wilshire Plaza give your dog the chance to practice responding to your cues around real distractions, exactly the kind of environment where those skills get tested", and it notes that "Our store off N Church Rd puts puppy and adult dog training classes within easy reach for Kansas City pet parents."

Method and instructors

The stated approach is consistent across the chain: "At PetSmart, our Accredited Pet Trainers believe that positive reinforcement builds positive behavior for both pets and people." The Kansas City page adds that its trainers "rely on positive reinforcement to help dogs of every age develop skills that stick well beyond class", built on "a structured approach, so the progress you and your dog make carries forward, no matter what stage you're starting from".

Classes

Two formats are published for this store: group classes, where "Accredited trainers teach fun & effective classes with positive reinforcement for dogs of all ages", and private classes, described as "Individual sessions to address your dog’s unique needs" for dogs that do not suit a group. Group classes are deliberately small – the chain page puts them at four to ten dogs, "small enough (4-10 dogs) so you'll get the attention you need" while still giving a dog company to learn around. Three levels of course are offered for puppies and adult dogs, with an advanced class for dogs ready to go further, and the page says experienced owners and graduates "can also learn more advanced skills, like special tricks and therapy dog training". Savings packages are available for owners combining classes.

Other services at the same store

The location also runs a grooming salon, a PetsHotel, Doggie Day Camp and a pharmacy; those are separate services from the training listed here. Two other PetSmart training locations sit nearby, on NE Vivion Rd and NW Skyview Ave, which are different stores from this one.
