About Playful Pups, LLC

Who they are

Playful Pups LLC is a professional dog training business on the Route 9H corridor between Hudson, Ghent and Kinderhook. Its trainer, Katie, is named on the site as a certified evaluator for several recognized AKC programs. The business describes its purpose as "building relationships of trust and respect between dogs and their families," and its published service area is Kinderhook, Chatham and the surrounding communities.

Group classes

Group classes are the flagship. The site describes them as a structured, supportive environment where dogs learn obedience skills while working around other dogs and real-world distractions, and says they suit both puppies and adult dogs that benefit from social learning and consistent practice. The named class content is confidence building, focus and impulse control, leash manners and polite greetings. Classes are held at the business's own training location in Ghent, just off Route 9H, and there is a published class schedule page.

Private training

For owners who want individual instruction, private sessions are tailored to one dog — the site lists one-on-one obedience training, puppy training for new owners, and work on specific behavior challenges and goals. This is the route the site steers people toward when a group setting is not the right fit.

AKC titles

The evaluator credential is the practical differentiator here. Because Katie is a certified AKC evaluator, dogs trained through Playful Pups can earn AKC certifications — the site names the S.T.A.R. Puppy program and Canine Good Citizen — without the owner having to find a separate evaluator elsewhere in the region.

Method

The site is consistent about approach: science-based, positive reinforcement techniques, described as encouraging trust, confidence and reliable behavior. Its stated mission is "positive, ethical, and effective dog training for families across Kinderhook, Chatham and Upstate New York."
