Problem-solving training in Caldwell

Real Dog Academy is based in the wine country of Caldwell and treats dog training as problem solving, on the principle that every problem has a solution. It works on house soiling, leash pulling, door charging, jumping, barking and disobedience, as well as anxiety, fear, aggression and puppy basics. Training covers the owner as much as the dog, and the academy offers lifetime support after working together. It all starts with an in-depth phone consultation.

Services

Trainer Drake Theroux offers one-on-one private training 7 days a week across an area from Payette to Marsing to Boise, in the home or yard, on walks or hikes, or wherever the problem happens. Boarding takes place on 10 acres with a large fenced yard, for house-trained dogs, and a limited-capacity board and train bootcamp focuses on obedience, behavior modification, socialization and weight management.

Background

Drake says his career with dogs began in 2010 with a dog walking business, followed by two years apprenticing with an animal behaviorist and aggression specialist. He describes a hybrid approach that combines practical methods from several training styles.
