River City Obedience Training, established in 1986, provides dog training and dog behavior counseling in Omaha and surrounding communities. Sessions are individualized and held in the client's home, where a dog starts out with fewer distractions; as the dog learns what is expected, training moves to many locations with a variety of distractions to test reliability.

A balanced approach

The trainer describes a common sense program that stresses humane, tested and reliable methods and educates owners in how dogs learn. Training leans strongly on positive motivational methods but stays flexible enough to use the most useful traditional techniques to suit each dog's temperament, on the view that no one method works for every dog or situation.

How it works

Each dog's behavior is evaluated along with the owner's goals, the relationship, behavioral issues and any communication problems, and training is customized from there. Support continues after training ends, with lifetime follow-up.
